Radiology & Imaging

Radiology is the specialty of medicine that uses imaging technology to diagnose and treat disease.

There are two kinds of Radiology, diagnostic radiology, and interventional radiology. Doctors who specialize in radiology are known as Radiologists.

The department of Radiology and Imaging at AVIVO Clinics offers a spectrum of imaging and radiology services for the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. Our professional doctors and staff aim to deliver the highest quality of diagnostic services.

Diagnostic radiology allows health care experts to visualize internal structures through images in the body. Professionals who specialize in the interpretation of these images are called diagnostic radiologists.

Using these images, the radiologist or other doctors can often:
  • Diagnose the cause of your symptoms
  • Monitor how well the body responds to a treatment you receive
  • Detect different illnesses, such as breast cancer, colon cancer, or heart disease
Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiologists or doctors use imaging techniques like ultrasound, CT, MRI to help guide procedures.

Doctors make use of this technology to diagnose or treat conditions in almost any part of the body instead of using a scope (camera) or with open surgery.

Interventional radiologists usually are involved in treating tumours or cancers, blockages in the arteries and veins, fibroids, backache, liver, and kidney problems.

We perform the following services at AVIVO Clinic’s Radiology department.

Digital Mammography and Stereotactic biopsy:

Mammography is a procedure that employs a low-dose x-ray system to analyse the tissues of the breasts. Mammography helps to detect any signs of breast cancer in women. Both screening and diagnostic digital mammograms are available at AVIVO Clinics.

The Radiology & Imaging department provides high quality and full-field digital mammography to our referring doctors and patients. Full-field digital mammography provides better Imaging, a lower dose of radiation for the patient, and magnified computer images, including CAD (computer-aided detection).

A stereotactic breast biopsy is a technique that uses mammography to identify and biopsy an abnormality or small growth in the breast. It may recommend a biopsy if the radiologist suspects a suspicious abnormality on the mammogram that was absent in the physical exam. This procedure helps to determine breast cancer or any other unusual abnormality in the breast.

3D Colour Doppler:

A colour Doppler is a specialized imaging test that utilizes high-frequency sound waves to evaluate the blood flow moving through arteries and veins. It takes coloured images of the blood vessels in several organs to scan any abnormality in vascular flow. It aids in diagnosing heart valve defects, Abnormalities of Arteries, blood clots, renal vascular disease, venous insufficiency, etc.

Ultrasound Scan

An Ultrasound scan is an imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to observe the structure and organs inside the body. A radiologist or specialist technician or doctor moves an instrument called a transducer over your body. It emits high-frequency sound, inaudible to the ears, and then records the echoes as the sound waves bounce back and determine the size, shape, and consistency of soft tissues and organs. This information is in the form of images on a computer screen.

At AVIVO Clinics, a wide range of Ultrasound services are provided, such as Abdominal scan, Follicular Studies, Routine Pregnancy, NT Scanning, Anomaly Scan, Breast, Thyroid, Scrotal, Musculoskeletal, Neuro-sonogram, Soft Tissues, Eye Ultrasound and CDH Scanning.

Digital OPG & Cephalometry:

Orthopantomogram (OPG) and Cephalometry are specialized x-ray examinations that image your teeth, jaw, and facial structures. A dedicated x-ray unit performs this procedure. Generally, these examinations are referred by general practitioners, dentists, and facial surgeons to evaluate your teeth, jaw, and facial structure. These images may aid in the diagnosis and ongoing management of conditions that affect these structures. Specific measurements from the photos are useful for planning facial and dental surgery, removing teeth, or applying braces.

An OPG determines the number, position, and growth of all the teeth, including those that have not appeared. It may also detect problems with the jawbone and the joint, which links the jawbone and the head, known as Temporomandibular joint or TMJ.

Our clinics boast advanced digital OPG and Cephalometric machines which deliver excellent image quality and panoramic viewing.

Digital X-ray

X-ray is an imaging technique that helps in the detection of pathology of the skeletal system. X-rays are also helpful in detecting some disease processes in soft tissue. Using low-dose electromagnetic radiation, X-rays diagnose disease by taking pictures of the inside structure of the body. Digital X-rays, images are available instantly. These digital images can be shared with radiologists or doctors whenever needed.

At AVIVO Clinics, we are committed to the lowest radiation doses possible, while still producing the highest quality imaging.

Radiology & Imaging provides an x-ray using advanced technology to ensure high-quality images even in the most challenging examinations and optimize every aspect of the patient’s experience.
